The Story Behind N&O: Building a Hormone-Conscious Skincare Community
N&O Skincare was an idea born from two women navigating completely different stages of life, yet facing many of the same frustrations when it came to skincare.
One of us was pregnant, questioning every ingredient in her bathroom cabinet. The other was navigating menopause and struggling to find products that supported changing skin without overwhelming it.
Despite being in different seasons, we kept coming back to the same question:
Why did skincare have to be so complicated?
Everywhere we looked, there seemed to be endless steps, confusing ingredient lists and products promising miracle results. We wanted something different.
We wanted skincare that felt calm.
Simple, trustworthy and, most importantly, effective.
So we decided to create it ourselves.
Building N&O
What started as conversations around kitchen tables quickly turned into months of research, formulation discussions and countless product trials.
As a mother-daughter team, we brought different experiences to the table.
One of us was navigating pregnancy and postpartum skin concerns.
The other was navigating menopause and the changes that come with it.
Together, we realised that while hormones may change throughout life, women often face the same challenge: finding skincare that works with their skin, not against it. This really became the foundation of N&O.
The Community We Never Expected
When we launched N&O, we hoped people would love the products. However, what we didn't expect was the incredible community that began to grow around the brand.
Every day, we hear from women navigating pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, menopause, sensitive skin, redness and hormonal changes.
Many tell us they're relieved to find skincare that doesn't feel intimidating.
And many simply tell us they appreciate having a brand that speaks honestly.
Those conversations have become one of the most rewarding parts of building N&O.
Because while skincare may be what brought people here, connection is what keeps them here.
What We've Learnt
If there's one thing we've learnt in our first six months since launch, it's that people connect with people.
Not perfectly curated feeds or polished marketing campaigns , but that people connect with honesty, with stories, and with brands that are willing to show the messy middle, the lessons learnt and the reality of building something from scratch.
That's why you'll often find us sharing the behind-the-scenes moments, like packing orders during nap time.
We are still learning as we go, celebrating small wins and more often that not laughing at ourselves along the way.
